SCCC Bowling

Having lost to Alleyn CC in the away fixture last week, SCCC was led by Hitarth this week who was returning after a break from last week. Hitarth won the toss and elected to bowl first (Boys wanted to bowl first and chase for a change, that was the reasoning I was told, so I let them do as they wanted).

Hitarth and Samarth opened the bowling for SCCC and had a very good start keeping the flow of runs under check and not giving lose balls. As runs were dried, the pressure built up and Alleyn CC looked to take a cheeky single. It lasted few times but on one occasion Hitarth managed to hit the stumps direct and get the 1st wicket. 1st change Aaron then struck in the next over bowling the opener, and opposition were now in negative territory (-5 for every wicket). Ayush also followed up with a wicket soon and was very economical giving away just 3 runs in 2 overs.

We also had a girl player (Prisha) playing for us this time and she was very impressive with her bowling and gelled with the team very well.  Well done Prisha 👍Other bowlers - Pranith and Avi also bowled a good spell. Alleyn CC’s 2nd inning was rather positive with some runs being scored. But Aarav Mechu’s 2 wickets and  Hitarth’s 1 wit at the end together with Jai’s economical spell, helped us restrict them at 88/7 (Net score 53). Overall very disciplined bowling from boys with just 5 wides in 20 overs 👏👏

SCCC Batting

Pranith and Aaron opened our innings cautiously as Alleyn CC were very agile in the field and were bowling tight line. This kept a lid on our scoring. Our boys succumbed under the pressure and had 3 run-outs within a span of couple of overs sending us on the back foot with net score of -7 at the end of 4 overs.

Next Pair Hitarth and Samarth then gradually started rebuilding our innings with good composure and aggression ;(Respecting good balls and dispatching bad balls to boundaries). Hitarth played a true captains inning and scored a quick fired 21. Samarth and Hitarth’s partnership of 35 runs brought us back in the game without losing any more wickets.
3rd and 4th pair of Prisha/Dev and Avi/Aarav also batted very sensibly without causing much damage (except for one soft dismissal).

With just 10 needed of the last 4 overs, We strategically had our strong batters at the end (Jai and Ayush) just I case the middle order collapses, they can do the bulk of scoring towards the end. Thankfully, our middle order held their nerves and all Jai and Anil had to do was stay on the wicket. But Jai being Jai 😂, he was in the mood and struck some swashbuckling boundaries. Ayush was also impressive and struck couple Of good blows. We ended up scoring 99 runs (Net score 279) and won the game comfortable by 26 runs.

It was a sweet revenge as our boys settled the score for last week’s defeat against Alleyn CC.

And this brings us to the top of the table now …..Huraayyyyyyyy

Congratulations Boys 👍👍👍
