1st XI - 2022 league toppers

Some brilliant individual performances backed by a disciplined bowling attack and able leadership resulted in first XI reaching the pinnacle of table leaving the runners up behind by 41 points.

A sketchy start to the season saw the team going down to Claygate cc in the very first match. Fielding first Claygate CC  put up a spirited performance to restrict the SCCC 1st XI to 200 in 45 overs. With bowlers still trying to find rhythm, Claygate managed to chase down the total in the 44th over winning by 4 wickets.

Skipper Chintu was quick to dismiss this as a one-off  off day. However, a strong message was sent and team regrouped to comeback hard from thereon.

Loosing only one of the next 17 matches, team showed what a group of very skilled resources can achieve when duly directed.

Several records were broken during the course of season.

Deepak Rajurkar won the league award for best batsman and SCCC award for the best all rounder. Scoring 847 runs and scalping 29 wickets, the man is definitely reverse ageing and the best is yet to come.

Poovi joined the party and followed Deepak very closely through out to score a total of 764 runs. His partnership of 210 runs with Deepak still remains a record for the club and league.

Poovi also dominated the fielding chart by scalping 28 total league wickets.

While batting flourished and openers were always in the hunt, bowling department also upped their ante.

Sunny was second lead wicket taker in the league, scalping 28 key wicket, with an economy of 3 and average of 12. Deepak Rajurkar was close second scalping 23 league wickets.

All in all 2022 remained a demanding but a very satisfying season for first XI, which saw the team getting promoted to div2, and opening an opportunity to take on some big names in the league in the year 2023.
